2018 Pinot Noir - Roberts Road Sonoma Coast

$75.00

Vineyard: Farmed by the legendary Sangiacomo family, Roberts Road Vineyard is planted to the western slopes of Sonoma Mountain, on an old creek bed. The site? alluvial clay soils and unique location in a fog-catching depression at the base of the mountain create the perfect conditions for growing world class Pinot Noir. The vineyard? extended hangtime along with the Dijon 115 and Pommard clonal selections produce extraordinarily structured and beautifully aromatic wines.

Winemaking:  n Our Roberts Road Pinot Noir was harvested in the early morning and transported immediately to the winery, where the grapes were de-stemmed into small open top tanks for three days of cold soak at approximately 45F. The must was allowed to warm and start fermentation, at which point we added a very small amount of Red Burgundy yeast strain and began punch downs three to four times daily. Once fermentation was completed, the wine was pressed to new French oak barrels for secondary malolactic fermentation and settling. After a total of 18 months in barrel, the wine was bottled unfined and unfinished.

Our 2018 Roberts Road Pinot Noir opens with alluring scents of violet, lavender and dried rose. The young, fruit forward palate shows even more concentration than in previous vintages, with a generous core of red cherry, raspberry and cranberry highlighted by sweet tea and clove notes. Finishes with great length and elegance.
