The most Burgundian of the Pinots we make, the 2021 Roberts Road is both generously flavored and elegantly structured.  Lovely floral aromatics give way to bright red berry and cola notes with an edge of savory dried mushroom. The palate is generous and youthful with supple textures that are lifted by good acidity through the very long finish.

Vineyard:  Farmed by the legendary Sangiacomo family, Roberts Road Vineyard is planted to the western slopes of Sonoma Mountain, on an old creek bed. The site’s alluvial clay soils and unique location in a fog-catching depression at the base of the mountain create the perfect conditions for growing world class Pinot Noir. The vineyard’s extended hangtime and  Dijon 115 clonal selection produce extraordinarily structured and beautifully aromatic wines.

Winemaking:  Our Roberts Road Pinot Noir was harvested in the early morning and transported immediately to the winery, where the grapes were de-stemmed into small open top tanks for three days of cold soak at approximately 45F.  The must was allowed to warm and start fermentation, at which point we added a low rate of Burgundian yeast, and began punch downs three to four times daily. Once fermentation was completed, the wine was pressed to 50% new French oak barrels for secondary malolactic fermentation and settling. After a total of 10 months in barrel, the wine was bottled unfined.
